Happy December!

Hey Families!

Another week has come and past in our busy busy math room! Here's what we have been up to!

Lately in....

5th Grade:
Today students take their unit 2 assessment. This assessment is on powers of 10, place value, standard notation, expanded notation, partial quotients, and multiplying using U.S. Traditional multiplication.
Students will get their tests back next week and will be asked to take them home to make corrections  to the problems they got incorrect and to have a parent sign the test saying that they saw their test score!
Many report card comments this year mentioned that students would really benefit from practicing their multiplication facts at home. Please practice with your students at home!! I am happy to make flash cards, practice sheets, or even games to practice at home. Just let me know!

6th Grade:
Students have learned two different ways to divide fractions. Ask your student what those two ways are!! At the end of this unit we will begin learning about ratios.

On Tuesday the 6th grade students had an in school field trip to get them prepared for their exhibition for their S.S. project. Wow, those were amazing! While the 6th grade students were working hard, the 5th grade students got to start a fun activity where they had to work in groups to solve clues. Here are a couple pictures from that activity!

As always, please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, or excitements!
